In conjunction with their exhibition “Blood Brothers” at the Savannah College Museum of Art (SCAD) in May 2016, Steven and William Ladd embarked on an inclusive endeavor with over 75 SCAD students, marking the institution’s first multi-departmental collaboration. The Scrollathon provided a platform for mutual engagement, bringing together students and professors from various disciplines– fiber, sculpture, jewelry, photography, and printmaking- to collectively produce the artwork titled Point in Time. Over the course of a week, the Ladds directly interacted with participants as the piece’s varied components evolved. Conversations about the challenges and rewards of pursuing careers in the arts were encouraged, and, in the midst of their art-making, students were invited to experience their joint effort as a celebratory event.

In 2018, Steven and William Ladd were honored featured guests of the Maison Basse space in the south of France, an historic venue affiliated with the SCAD. This opportunity provided a five day professional development retreat— an invaluable platform for networking with prominent figures in the industry. A Scrollathon event created the chance for retreat attendees, artists, and SCAD staff to come together; as they worked collectively to create an artwork, active discussions regarding career development and personal creative journeys were enriched by the significance of their group collaboration.
