Collaboration with 1,115 participants

Kwok Noise, 2016, archival board, fiber, pins, ink, 61 1/2 x 41 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches

In conjunction with their 2016 exhibition “Mary Queen of the Universe,” at Miami Dade College Museum of Art + Design, Steven and William Ladd engaged with 1,115 participants from 16 local schools and community organizations for the Miami Scrollathon. Participants toured the Ladd’s exhibition and learned how the artists make and use scrolls in their own work. Next, they tried their hands at making their own individual scrolls, special keepsakes of their personal Scrollathon experience. Then it was time to collaborate on creating the group installation, which they named Kwok Noise. Everyone was photographed for inclusion in the Portrait Mural commemorating the 1,115 participants in the Miami Scrollathon.
